Warner Electric’s packaged stationary field clutches are factory assembled and burnished to deliver the maximum rated torque immediately. In addition, a packaged product assures that all engineering factors regarding the proper alignment of components to one another have been established at the factory. This allows the unit to be ‘slid on the shaft’ after being shipped to you. The proper alignment of components is critical to achieving maximum torque and assuring long life.
Besides saving valuable assembly and run-in time, the SFP clutches incorporate an original Warner Electric concept. The concept of the stationary field eliminates the need for brushes. Brushes can be a high maintenance item in an electromagnetic clutch because of the mechanical friction seen at the collector ring. There is no mechanical friction with the stationary field design. In sum, all of the best possible features wrapped up into one compact package.

Each CB Series unit is a completely self-contained, packaged clutch/brake assembly designed to start and stop a load rapidly and accurately without any cumulative error. In fact, at speeds up to 1800 rpm, loads are started and stopped within +1/2° per revolution. CB Series units are solenoid actuated with standard models available in 12, 24, or 90 VDC as well as 115 VAC configurations.
Accurate
Start and stop positioning can be maintained within +1/2° at speeds up to 1800 rpm. The stop point is adjustable by using the adjustable control collar.
Self-Contained

Interchangeability
The CB Series is completely interchangeable with other comparable clutch/brake packages.
The Super CB Series is a high performance version of the standard CB Series, providing up to five times the life. The SCB Series is recommended for heavy-duty applications requiring maximum torque, high cycle rates and minimum maintenance. Like the CB Series, each Super CB Series unit is a complete, factory-assembled package, ready for installation.
WSC Series clutches are simple, mechanically actuated devices providing high torque in a compact design. Specific models are available for use as an overrunning/one-way clutch (Model O), as a start/coast-to-stop clutch (Model SS), or as a single revolution clutch (Model S).
Overrunning/One-Way (Model O)
This clutch continually drives the load. The load is allowed to overrun the input, should its speed exceed input speed. In the reverse direction the unit acts as a one-way clutch, preventing the load from backing up.
Start/Coast-To-Stop (Model SS)
The start/stop clutch is engaged until the collar that contains the spring tang is disengaged. Once it is stopped, the load is disengaged and coasts to a stop.
Start/Stop – Single Revolution (Model S)
Attaching one end of the spring to the output hub results in a single revolution clutch. The load is stopped through the spring to the collar. Precise non- cumulative error single revolution cycling is achieved. Braking torque equals 10% of the maximum torque rating.

The ERS VAR-11 is an electrically released failsafe caliper brake. VAR-11 models are a highly modular braking system which operates in static and/or emergency stops. Redundant capability according EN 81-1 when two or more brakes are used.
This unit is composed of two major parts. The first part is the core, mandatory driving, integral with two fly-weights and return springs. The second part is the drum connected to the driven part (clutch assembly) or to a fixed part (brake assembly).
The acceleration of the driving shaft and thus of the core applies a stress to fly-weights. Up to a given speed shown on the table of characteristics, the return springs compensate for the action of the centrifugal force. Beyond “nil torque” speed, the fly-weights move apart from each other, then come into contact with drum. The transmitted torque is a function of the rotational speed.

ERD Series brakes are designed to safely keep the load in position in the event of a power or motor failure, whether intentional or accidental.
By applying voltage to the ERD, an electromagnetic field is created which causes the armature plate to pull-in against helical compression springs, thus releasing the brake. When power is removed, the springs force the armature to compress the friction carrier against the mounting flange, thus stopping and holding the load. Fully dynamic friction material on the carrier allows for repeated braking cycles from full motor speed with no torque fade.
An optional manual release allows the operator to safely move the load even when no power is available.
Brakes are available in eight different sizes ranging from 3.3 inches to 9.9 inches in diameter with torque capacities from 4 to 220 lb.ft.
The Warner Electric line of electrically released, dynamic, spring-set brakes (ERD) offers a high-performance, cost effective solution for power-off load holding applications.
These brakes (ERD) are typically applied where dynamic stopping of the load is desired when the electrical power is either accidentally or intentionally removed. They may be applied in any dry environment where a dependable heavy duty braking action is required, with no residual torque in the disengaged position.
These units are typically mounted horizontally, but vertical installations are also acceptable.
The initial operating Air Gap is factory set with provisions for wear adjustment after dynamic use.
This series of brakes are UL approved.
This brake must be engaged while the shaft is in motion. Shaft speed should be 100 RPM or greater when the brake is engaged. This style brake offers a bulkhead flange mounting system, the highest torque rating offered by Warner Electric in the power released series, high cycle rate capability, and excellent life.
ERS Series Brakes are spring-set, electrically released brakes designed to provide holding functions as well as occasional dynamic stopping functions in emergency situations. ERS Brakes are standard off-the-shelf units, which if necessary, are easily modified to accommodate a number of different mounting configurations, such as through bolt, tapped hole, or flange. With this wide range of models, we have the optimum size to match your requirements. In addition, ERS Brake modifications, such as metric bores, special voltages, and special torque ratings are available upon request. ERS Brakes are available in a wide range of bore sizes and models.

Warner Electric clutches and brakes are designed to start and stop inertial loads when the voltage is turned on. When DC voltage is applied to the coil, the magnetic force caused by the magnetic flux pulls the armature across the air gap against the force of the zero-backlash spring attached to the armature. The mating of the armature and rotor face transmit torque.
When DC voltage is interrupted, the magnetic field collapses, and the zerobacklash spring retracts the armature from the rotor face. There is no residual torque produced.
